University Hill, located just north of Syracuse University’s main campus, encompasses several blocks of buildings that are owned by Syracuse University, Crouse Hospital, Upstate Medical University, and a host of private ownership’s. Under the direction of a key developer who has been working with all the entities to incite expansion of the underutilized blocks in the area, Open Atelier Architects has been designing and master planning a vision for a new urban style mix of educational facilities, administrative facilities, commercial facilities, retail facilities and other support functions to enhance the experience of being in and around Syracuse University. The main objective is to allocate the highest and best use potential for several properties that can be better utilized by the larger institutions in the area. The goal is to intertwine the functionality of an educational environment with that of daily city life such as reaching out to local establishments for services in support of the local businesses as well as the medical and educational facilities.
