Sherwood Inn, Skaneateles, NY

The Sherwood Inn is an institution in the town of Skaneateles NY, first built as a hotel and restaurant in 1807. Over the years, various owners have taken care in maintaining the historical context of the property. I had been involved in some of the more recent upgrades with ongoing plans for further expansion and remodeling to allow more up to date facilities for guests and staff. Of note are the new custom designed FoldUp window system that I designed along with Rochester Colonial Windows & Doors out of Rochester, NY. Our client wished for the window system to be fully open in the summer to provide an airy and enviting atmospher for diners in the front part of the restaurant that sits directly across from Skaneateles Lake. However sliders, dormers, casements or double hung didn’t fully allow for that. So I came up with this unique design that folded up, one that is completely custom and had to be designed, prototyped and built from scratch. The end result is a stunning window design that is actually folded up when open, but when closed looks like a traditional double hung window. The FoldUp Window.
