Building over water becomes a foregone conclusion when home prices rise as high as they have in the San Francisco Bay Area. This project was conceived for a water lot overlooking Richardson Bay in Richmond, CA. The owner was keen on a simple design that mimicked a loft life style and also provided for plenty of outdoor space on the pier. This house was governed by a tight set of requirements by the neighborhood association that is look modern and in keeping with the rest of the modern homes in the area. The main entry to the house is modest and practical. The living room is open two stories and the large doors when raised open welcome the bay’s cool breath and welcomes the nautical feeling into the house. The arched roof of the top floor offers grand spaces on the master bedroom level.
