New York City in the 1980’s was a different place than today. Architectural projects were more modest and had a sense of historic sensibilility. This mixed use tower I designed while attending Pratt in the early 1980’s as a project to fill in a vacant lot in mid town manhattan. The concept revolved around the atrium as a court yard of multi story proportions that opened up the interior to the sky above and provided a sense of seperating the city from the interior while elevating the nature of the sky as part of the overal strategy. This project was intended to be a mixed use hotel and office project.
