This client requested a home with a wrap around porch, a cross between something modern and something a little more familiar. The house takes advantage of a subtle sloping landscape with view out into the vast valley beyond. This was an opportunity to express compression and expansion while moving through the house. For instance, the lower ceiling smaller and intimate area upon arrival contrasted with the expressive tall living room ceiling that leads back to smaller intimate window seating areas. The large overhanging roof deck protects from high winds, rain and heavy snow which are part of the climatic conditions of this particular location.
