Tuscarora Lake near the town of Erieville, NY is a gem of a lake in upstate Central New York. Of the many lakes surounding the region, Tuscarora Lake has a reputation for summer and weekend getaway cabins, or as the locals call them, camps. Most homes were not insulated and only used during the summer. However of the past few years, the notion of an uninsulated second home seems to have given way to more luxury insulated finished homes for year round living. This particular house started out in the mid 1800’s as a farm house. The walls are only three and a half inches thick from outside to inside, giving us a sense of how primative this structure has remained all these years. Upon a comprensive survey of all the features we needed to do, it was revealed that we could keep the main structure, strip off the outer and inner finishes, insulate the house and renovate in order to make it more full time livable within today’s lifestyle.
