Good Urban Design allows for a rich dialogue between buildings separated by public streets, squares, promenades, parks, and monuments. Landscaping with benches, chairs and greenery provides an established sense of place where community is fostered through a feeling of belonging in chance encounters among pedestrians. This is the streetscape come to life. In this sense, architecture reflects its relative status and expresses inherent and fundamental values of its builders and designers. This project took an existing office building and converted it into a residential complex that transformed not just the building, but the neighborhood surrounding it through critical understanding of the forces that impacted the site’s constraints.
