Borough Furnace is a metal casting workshop that came to us with a very clear idea of how they needed their operations to fit into a nearby factory building that was in the process of being renovated. Open Atelier Architects assisted them in layout out the manufacturing floor and working closely with the local building departments to install a unique vegetable oil fired furnace for their manufacturing process which required us to route a specialized exhaust system throughout the space and exhaust it in such a way as not to disrupt the air quality of neighboring properties. Borough Furnace continues to operate out of their renovated space casting with recycled vegetable oil and recycled iron.
