If you are active in the progress of Syracuse, then you know that our city has no shortage of talented young people who have launched careers, movements, and campaigns to make this city the best it can be.
One of those talented individuals is SYRUP friend W. Michael Short, founder of Short Enterprises and The Short Report™, Mr. Short has been awarded numerous awards and accolades as a social entrepreneur for and his work in developing public-private partnerships.
Most recently, Short was asked to participate in the Clinton Global Initiative in Denver Colorado. The meeting, now in its fourth year was established by the Clinton family to address causes such as education, employment and the world’s overall financial health. The group leaves the annual meeting with what are known as “Commitments to Action”, whereby the knowledge and insight garnered is then turned into useful programs that stimulate economic growth.
According to the website, the group has selected 100 commitments to Action this year that when completed will:
- create or fill more than 40,000 jobs
- provide nearly $3.6 million in new capital for green initiatives
- mobilize more than $215 million of new capital to be invested in or loaned to small- and medium-sized enterprises
SYRUP would like to congratulate Mr. Short on his invitation and participation in the prestigious event and are happy to welcome him back home to continue changing the course of our city.
