This event will promote CNU 22 in the New York State Capital Region with an emphasis on Community Planning, Agricultural Urbanism and the future of I-81. The Congress for the New Urbanism New York State Chapter’s Regional Summit in Syracuse will address the relationship of urban planning to urgent economic development topics in central New York. We will cover regional issues that affect our villages and towns as well as topics specific to the City of Syracuse.
- Summary of urban design components including mixed-use development, transportation, form-based codes, tactical urbanism, How the needs of seniors and millennials are converging in city neighborhoods,
- How community planning can transform our region,
- How Syracuse Region stakeholders will affect the future of I-81,
- How agriculture is reviving New York State’s classic villages.
Expect a relaxed program with plenty of time for conversation, organizing, and networking. There will be an audience-participatory discussion with our local and expert speakers Saturday afternoon.
